It’s coming! 2018 Laredo International Sister Cities Festival

By Selina Villarreal
March 2018

Take out your calendars and SAVE THE DATE! On July 13, 14 and 15 the Laredo Energy Arena will transform into a Mexican mercado for the Laredo International Sister Cities Festival. Close to 200 vendors from over 13 Mexican states will be showcasing and selling their artisan products.

Along with making sure to pack your wallet/purse make sure to bring an empty stomach. Along the concourse of the arena the scent of enchiladas, gorditas and tacos fills the air. You can enjoy some of the food prepared on-site by the exhibitors and can purchase other pre-packaged products like tortillas, machacado, salsas and sweet bread.

The three day festival gives you ample time to browse around each day and decide what purchases you’d like to make. The cherry on top is that admission is free all weekend long. Entertainers from one of the visiting Sister Cities take the stage on Friday and Saturday to perform for attendees in their traditional attire. Sunday is when Laredo’s local talent is showcased.

On another note, the LCVB is also looking for businesses interested in being a sponsor for the event. Give our Project Coordinator, Veronica Gamboa a call at 956-795-2200 and ask her about sponsorship opportunities.
