Meson de San Agustin – Culinary Scene

Hello, Arnold Cazares here to introduce a hidden jewel in downtown Laredo. A family restaurant, El Meson de San Agustin, located on Grant Street next to the San Agustin Cathedral, is an interesting place to dine in the heart of the city. Known for its Mexican cuisine and traditional atmosphere this restaurant is a must when visiting Laredo.
With its classic Mexican architecture – large wrought iron window decor, bright orange colors, and beautiful wooden doors – El Meson of San Agustin will definitely catch your attention. The name “El Meson” goes all the way back to 1848. A meson was a place where travelers were welcomed to rest and eat for a certain amount of money. El Meson de San Agustin was used as such, offering their hospitality and kindness. Today we can find the same type of welcoming atmosphere.

This local favorite will make your mouth water with its home-style Mexican cuisine. Ingredients are fresh and carefully selected every day. My favorite choice was the “pechuga rellena”, which is a breaded chicken breast filled with a delicious choice of cheese and ham, accompanied with spaghetti, corn, and mashed potato. However, everything on the menu has a taste of Mexico in every bite, appetizing and worth trying.

El Meson de San Agustin is located at:

908 Grant St, Laredo, TX 78040
