Laredo, TX. July 7, 2007 - Please be advised that as per U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Laredo Port of Entry, Port Director Gene Garza, in conjunction with Laredo city officials, and Mexican officials for the state of Nuevo Leon, the Laredo Colombia Solidarity Bridge will be closing to all traffic, this afternoon, July 7, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.
In addition, Nuevo Laredo buses will be transporting would-be pedestrians via the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge and dropping passengers off right past the bridge. The Mexican buses will make U-turns and pick up southbound passengers just past the southbound inspectional area and return to Nuevo Laredo. This arrangement has been made in an agreement between U.S. and Mexican officials to facilitate the thousands of pedestrians who cross via the Gateway to the Americas Bridge (Bridge One) that closed earlier today, daily. This will remain in effect for the duration of the emergency situation that is at hand with the cresting of the river that is expected. Thanks,
