Bevy of Beauties Descend on the Border
 The stars will shine bright deep in the heart of Laredo when a bevy of beauties descend on the border as Laredo plays host to the spectacular 2009 Miss Texas USAŽ Pageant. For the fifth year in a row, Laredo is transformed to a scene reminiscent of Beverly Hills Kodak theatre when the television production cameras and directors take charge of the Laredo Entertainment Center along with 140 of the most beautiful ladies in Texas who all descend upon Texas’ Gateway City with hopes of becoming the next Miss Texas USAŽ.
Laredoans will get a front row view during the many attraction stops that make up the week long Miss Texas USAŽ Pageant event schedule. The show has stockpiled accolades while in Laredo including five Emmy awards. Dance rehearsals, gown fittings, and parties all leading up to the two hour telecast airing on June 29th promise awesome opening numbers, brilliant backdrops and exceptional entertainment all culminating in the crowning and start of a new state representatives’ reign.
No stranger to the Miss Texas USAŽ stage, this year’s reigning beauty has put her intellect, poise and looks to work as an ambassador for the Lone Star State and now the Unites States of America. Crystle Stewart, formerly Miss Fort Bend County USAŽ before beating out her state competition last July, will be looking to conquer the Universe on July 13, 2008 at the Miss UniverseŽ Pageant as the recently crowned Miss USAŽ. She will vie for the title in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Vietnam. The Miss Universe website indicates that “the glamorous live event, featuring some of the world's most beautiful women, will air from the Crown Convention Center, on NBC and Telemundo July 13, 2008. She will be featured during the state pageant in Laredo via a pre-taped segment filmed before she departs for Vietnam.

One very lucky lady will go home with over $300,000 in cash and prizes including a new car and the honor of vying for the title of MISS USAŽ in the spring of 2009.
Local hotels claim bragging rights to hosting various groups of pageant participants from contestants to production crew throughout the last week of June. The week-long event brings in approximately 2,000 enthusiastic friends and families of contestants, generating an estimated $300,000 in revenue to for the local economy.
