An Invitation from the Monte Mucho Audubon Society
The Laredo Birding and Butterfly Festival, February 7-10, 2008 is a way for birders to experience The Last Great Frontier. Join the Monte Mucho Audubon Society and the Laredo Convention and Visitors Bureau for field trips and programs focusing on birds and butterflies of the Rio Grande plain.
Our region features over 250 species of birds and 300 species of butterflies. Of the 30 specialty species Texas offers, all but two can be found here, and numerous over-wintering species as well. Our trips will take you to private ranches not generally open to birders, familiarize you with local birding sites and trails for you to re-visit in the near future and provide you with a bird banding experience along the Rio Grande. And our evening programs will feature well known speakers in their field.
